The Dagestani Prosecutor's Office has sent to the court a case of five local residents accused of organizing a gang, robbery, hostage-taking, theft and illicit arms trafficking. The prosecution asserts that the gang included policemen from the "Kizilyurt" Inter-District Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

On September 4, in Krasnodar, one of the supporters of the "Progress Party" held a solo picket opposite the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of the Krasnodar Territory, demanding to register the regional branch of the party. Party supporters intend to go on picketing until their damands are fulfilled.

A suspected militant was killed in the course of a special operation conducted in the village of Kichi-Gamri of the Sergokala District of Dagestan. On September 1, advocate Sapiyat Magomedova challenged the guilty verdict against Shamil Nurmagomedov, a resident of Dagestan, who on August 21 was sentenced to four years of imprisonment for taking part in the armed conflict in Syria. According to the defence, the testimony taken as a basis of evidence was received under pressure from staff members of the Centre to Combat Extremism.

During the court hearings in the case on the terror act in Beslan, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will focus on the issues related to indiscriminate use of weapons, planning of the rescue operation, and measures taken by the authorities to prevent the terror act, stated the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC). Human rights defenders emphasize that the ECtHR's decision is not able to cancel pain experienced by hostages and their family members; however, it is to restore justice.

In Azerbaijan, Leyla Yunus, an arrested human rights defender, is deprived of necessary medical care at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), advocate Alaif Gasanov states. According to the advocate, her health state can deteriorate dramatically at any time.

Today, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya has postponed indefinitely the consideration of the appeal complaint against the verdict passed to Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, said his advocate Pyotr Zaikin.
