On November 2-8, 2015, three persons suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of November 2-8, 2015, three persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, two persons were killed, one person was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes a suspected member of the armed underground and a civilian. Both of them were killed in Dagestan.

Special and counterterrorist operations

At 3:45 p.m. of November 7, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the territory of the garden community "Chokh-Roso" in the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan. While taking special measures, law enforcers carried out inspections of private houses and yards. At 6:00 p.m. of the same day, the CTO legal regime was cancelled.

At about noon of November 7, at the village of Novy Khushet of the Leninsky District of Makhachkala, linemen of the railways were attacked. As a result, one of them was killed, and another one was wounded. Officials from the law enforcement bodies suggest that a member of illegal armed formation (IAF) was trying to plant an explosive device on a railway track when he was noticed by the linemen. The CTO legal regime was introduced within the territory of the Leninsky District of Makhachkala. A man suspected of involvement in the attack on the linemen was blocked in one of the houses of the village of Novy Khushet. During the special operation, the suspected militant was killed, and none of law enforcers was injured. The killed man was identified as Abdulgasan Abdulkhalikov, the leader of the "Makhachkala" militant grouping, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reports.

Detentions

On October 31, inGrozny, at the central market "Berkat", law enforcers conducted mass detentions of young men wearing beards with moustaches shaved. This was reported by eyewitnesses. According to them, the young men were forced into several buses and taken away to some unknown destination. A source from the police reported on the preventive measures. The information was reported on November 2.

On November 2, Rizvan Mataev, born in 1992, a native of the village of Novoselskoe of the Khasavyurt District, who worked and lived in a rented apartment in Khasavyurt, was detained by law enforcers and taken away to some unknown destination. Rizvan Mataev had earlier criminal record for aiding and abetting militants, and he spent one year in a prison. His relatives were not able to locate him until November 3. According to them, he is being kept at the ROVD (District Interior Division), where law enforcers check him for his possible relations with members of an illegal armed formation (IAF). According to a relative, he is not aware of the suspicion against Rizvan Mataev. However, according to Ramazan, his brother was severely beaten.

On November 2, policemen carried out a search at an Islamic educational institution in Derbent. In the course of the search, field investigators discovered two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with bolts and nuts serving as striking elements, a home-made pistol with a silencer and a full magazine, ammunition, Islamic books, materials of religious content, financial and accounting documents concerning the receipt and the distribution of money. During the search in the house and yard, the law enforcers encountered two local residents and a former soldier of a military unit, who retired in August. All four of them, including the owner of the house, were brought to the local police station.

In the evening of November 4, policemen stopped a VAZ-2107 car belonging to a resident of Makhachkala. As a result of the inspection, an F-1 grenade and 40 rounds for a submachine gun were found at the passenger compartment of the VAZ-2107 car. The policemen searched a 28-year old driver of the car and seized one more grenade. The criminal case was instituted against the detainee under Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal storage, transportation or carrying of weapons).

On November 6, in Buynaksk, law enforcers carried out detentions of believers of the Salafi mosque located in Makhachkala Highway. The detained mosque-goers expressed their indignation by the fact that they were not allowed praying, and other believers tried to defend them. The policemen began firing into the air. As a result, they have detained two believers, and the whereabouts of the detainees are still unknown.

Disappearance

In Chechnya, the police search for Adam Akhmadov, a 25-year resident of the town of Shali, who disappeared under unclear circumstances on October 22. The young man left home and never returned. Till present, the search has not succeeded. The police report that the search for the disappeared man is still underway. The information was reported on November 5.
