The defendants are members of the organization "Hizb-ut-Tahrir al-Islami", which is banned in Russia, and they were accused of plotting an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order in the Russian Federation.

The Moscow City Court (MCC) has found Orkhan Zeinalov, a native of Azerbaijan, guilty of the murder of Yegor Scherbakov, a resident of the Moscow District of Biryulyovo. The defendant was sentenced to 17 years of a high-security penal colony. The defence of Orkhan Zeinalov has announced its intention to appeal against the sentence.
