The Bar Association held a rally in front of the Supreme Court of Georgia in protest against detention of lawyer Tariel Murmanashvili, accused of a fraud.

Khyakimeldost Mekhtiev, the regional correspondent of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety (IRFS) in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), sentenced by the Sharur District Court to a fine for illegal use of electricity, intends to appeal against this decision.

The action was aimed against the Russian parliamentary elections to be held on December 4, 2011. The picketers explained passers-by that the opposition offers to hold alternative elections on that very day.

As a result of pelting rains which lasted day and night on September, 25, the traffic in the major highways of Batumi (Adzharia, Georgia) was paralyzed for several hours. Water level in the main streets of the town reached 1 - 1,5 meters.
