In Baku, Committee in Defence of Hilal Mamedov's Rights urges Ilham Aliev to express his attitude to activist's arrest
The criminal case against Hilal Mamedov, the editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijani newspaper "Tolyshi Sado" (Voice of Talysh) and the deputy head of the Talysh Cultural Centre, was fabricated to punish him for his active civil position and human rights activities. This was stated at a press conference by members of the "Committee to Protect Hilal Mamedov's Rights", established in Baku. They published an appeal to the head of state, requesting to express his attitude to the arrest of the activist.
Consideration of lawsuit, filed by Kadyrov's lawyer against HRC "Memorial" postponed to July 4
Today, in the Tver District Court, at the trial on the lawsuit, filed by Andrei Krasnenkov, the lawyer of the Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, against the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" on protection of business reputation, plaintiff and defendant voiced their positions. The judge has noted that she should examine the materials of the case and postponed the meeting till 09:00 a.m. on July 4.
At meeting with Magomedsalam Magomedov, Dagestani resident asks for help in investigation into death of his son's pregnant wife
Mamatkhan Baisultanov, a resident of the city of Khasavyurt, at a meeting with Magomedsalam Magomedov, the leader of Dagestan, reported on the course of the investigation into the criminal case on the fact of shelling of his son Gasan Baisultanov and his pregnant wife Sapiyat Magomedova, committed by law enforcement agents in 2006. Mamatkhan Baisultanov asked Magomedsalam Magomedov to render assistance in the investigation into the case, which, according to him, had been considered by nine investigators already.
In Krasnodar Territory, blogger claims being unlawfully prosecuted
During five months, the investigation into the criminal case against Roman Petrov, a resident of Sochi, a computer programmer and a blogger, accused of stealing an expensive mobile phone, is underway. Roman Petrov himself calls the case fabricated and says that he brought to the police station a mobile phone, which he had found. Investigators deny the information. The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation intends to investigate the situation.
