In the opinion of political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), militants of the "Imarat Kavkaz" treat members of the "Islamic State" (IS) as rivals. However, they believe that the murder in Nalchik of Robert Zankishiev, the leader of the local IS unit, did not strengthen the positions of "Imarat Kavkaz".

The Court of Appeal has released the Azerbaijani political scientist Arif Yunus from custody because of deterioration of his health. Arif has demanded to release his wife, the human rights activist Leyla Yunus.

In Armenia, 43-year-old Karen Boyadjyan, who was serving his life sentence, died. Mukhammed Siradjly, a soldier of the Azerbaijani Army, has been found dead. Officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) claim that the soldier has committed suicide. Relatives of the young man deceased during his military service do not believe the version of his suicide.
