Igor Kalyapin leaves Chechnya after attack on him
After being attacked in Grozny, Igor Kalyapin, the leader of the "Committee for the Prevention of Torture", left Chechnya for the Stavropol Territory. This was reported by the human rights defender himself.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening of March 16, Igor Kalyapin, a member of the Presidential Human Rights Council, was attacked near the "Grozny City" Hotel, which he had left.
"I feel fine, and I got no injuries. I refused a medical examination. I got no visible harm. However, I was literally left without my clothes," Igor Kalyapin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The human rights defender has noted that he has left Chechnya for Pyatigorsk, being accompanied by Igor Sobol, an investigator from the Investigating Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
According to Igor Kalyapin, he was attacked by about 10-15 masked persons, dressed in sports clothes.
