In Krasnodar, near two Orthodox churches Cossack Army Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky and Saint George's Church activists of the "Left-Wing Front" held pickets in support of the band "Pussy Riot". Today, the court found members of the band guilty of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred for "punk prayer", performed in February in the Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

Rita Zoloeva, the cook of the kindergarten "Ivushka" (Willow) in the Kirov District of North Ossetia, was found guilty of violation of the sanitary and epidemiological rules, which negligently caused the mass poisoning of children in April. The court sentenced her to a fine of 5000 roubles.

On August 16, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria started the trial on the case of robbery attacks on families, living in different dwelling settlements across the republic. There are 11 defendants in the case, and they face a sentence of 7-15 years of imprisonment.

On August 16, medallists of the London Olympic Games arrived in Dagestan. They were greeted by about 1000 fans at the Makhachkala airport. Each winner of the Olympic Games has received from the republic's authorities three million roubles and documents for a land plot.
