NCFD regions sum up elections outcomes
Elections of leaders of municipal formations, members of regional legislative assemblies, heads and deputies of dwelling settlements in a number of regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) did not arise great interest of voters, except for Chechnya, where the Republic's Central Election Commission (CEC) reported 95 percent of voter turnout, and in Karachaevsk, where a representative of the CEC reported the turnout of 97 percent. In North Ossetia and Karachay-Cherkessia, representatives of opposition claimed violations and ballot stuffing, and in Dagestan, the opposition claimed the use of administrative resources; however, representatives of the authorities and election commissions denied those allegations.
ECtHR accepts complaint in case against Chechen resident, sentenced for involvement in IAF
The ECtHR accepted for consideration the complaint, filed by Tabarik Chudalova, the mother of Muslim Chudalov, who was accused of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAF) and attempted murder of law enforcement officers and who was sentenced to 21 years of imprisonment. The mother of the convicted man claims that he is subjected to torture and that he is not involved in any of the crimes, of which he is accused.
Kemerovo police investigate conflict with Chechens treated as interethnic by bloggers
In the city of Kemerovo, law enforcers are investigating the incident in the cafe "Schepka", which occurred at night on October 6, when a group of youngsters rushed into the premise and began beating the visitors. The records from the cafe's surveillance cameras were posted on the Internet; and users could see a young man with the word "Chechnya" on his T-shirt. Local bloggers treat the incident as an interethnic conflict.
