Nino Tsindeliani, 79, a woman-refugee from Abkhazia, who remained homeless, has gone on hunger strike in Heroes Square in central Tbilisi, at the memorial of perished fighters for territorial integrity of Georgia.

On August 17, in the Gdlan isolation facility in Tbilisi, Melor Vachnadze, founder of youth social movement "Shemogviertdi" (Join Us), announced a protest hunger strike. Today, Vakhtang Maisaya, convicted for espionage, has joined him.

The investigation has established the main suspect in the case about the explosion in central Pyatigorsk. As reported by local law enforcement bodies, this is Alexander Kim, 42, a native of Chechnya.

On Tuesday, August 17, the Transparency International (TI) published its Corruption Perception Index (CPI). It is noted that Georgia is least corrupted from among all Russia's neighbours.

On August 13, 2010, Makhmud Akhmedov, earlier beaten by militiamen at interrogation, was discharged from the Central Republic's Hospital. As a result of his trauma, Makhmud lost hearing by one ear. As a result of an explosion, committed today in the morning by a suicide bomber at the check point in the North-Ossetian-Ingush border, two militiamen were lost and three more wounded.

In Dagestan, Rumil Begeyev, who was in federal search for murdering a militiaman, committed at his detention on January 22 in Derbent. Earlier, Begeyev's relatives had stated that they failed to receive guarantees from law enforcement bodies of observance of legality in exchange for his readiness to surrender.
