Azerbaijan: 32 believers face criminal charges for confronting police
32 detainees face criminal charges in connection with the unsanctioned protest action of believers, which was held on October 5 in Baku in front of the Ministry of Education and which grew into clashes between the protesters and the police. The courts pronounced their arrests as pre-trial restriction measures. This was reported on October 8 by Eldar Sultanov, Press Officer of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.

In Dagestan, local resident claims delay of investigation into his accidental injury by power agents
Ibragim Aliev, a resident of the Khasavyurt District, who in last November was shelled by power agents by error, claims delay of the investigation into the incident. Investigators failed to reveal who opened fire on a car of the local resident and wounded him and damaged his car. Officials from the investigatory agencies of the Khasavyurt District state that the investigation into the incident is underway.

A group of climbers from North Ossetia, who have accomplished an ascent to one of unnamed peaks of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range, fixed there a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kazbek Khamitsaev, Chairman of the Republic's Climbing Federation, announced the intention to submit an application for naming the mountain peak as "Putin Peak". However, the proposal sparked strong criticism of bloggers in North Ossetia.
