Today, Milrad Fatulaev, the editor-in-chief of the Dagestani weekly "Nastoyascheye Vremya" (Present Time), has received a statement of the Prosecutor's Office of the city of Makhachkala about initiation of an administrative case against him under the article of slander after publication of an article about introduction of the CTO (counterterrorist operation) regime in the village of Gimry, Untsukul District. The weekly's staff views it as pressure on the edition by national authorities.

Sergey Udaltsov, the coordinator of the "Left-Wing Front", who went on a hunger strike in solidarity with the Astrakhan opposition activists, who do not recognize the results of the mayoral elections, was detained by police near the building of the State Duma in Moscow. Later, the Magistrate Court fined Sergey Udaltsov by 2000 roubles for attempting to hold an unsanctioned rally near the State Duma.

On April 10, the Khasavyurt District Court of Dagestan pronounced the verdict in the case against Marsel Gamidov, a resident of the village of Karlanyurt, accused of illegal possession of firearms. The defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year of conditional sentence. The lawyer and the public defender of Marsel Gamidov believe that the young man incriminated himself.

In Astrakhan, the residents, who support hunger-strikers, held a rally in the city centre, marking the arrival of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, physician Elizaveta Glinka, and Dmitry Gudkov and Ilya Ponomaryov, the deputies of the State Duma from the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party. Another event is to start at 6:00 p.m. Elizaveta Glinka said that on April 11 she would persuade three persons to stop participating in the hunger strike.
