Organizers of a picket against abortions in Vladikavkaz intend to strive for adoption of a law prohibiting induced abortions not based on medical indications at the legislative level. They are currently training people who will deliver lectures on the subject to senior pupils. However, physicians point out that prohibition of induced abortions can promote increase of the number of illegal abortions which often cause death of a woman who decided to do so.
Dagestan: investigators stop villagers from lynching man suspected of murdering girl
On August 12, the Tarumovka District Court of Dagestan pronounced pre-trial restriction in the form of keeping in custody to a 25-year old native of Ukraine without fixed abode, suspected of raping and murdering a nine-year female resident of the village of Koktyubei. On the previous day, local residents almost lynched the suspect, and the murder was prevented by the intervention of the investigators.

Young representatives of the ethnic Diaspora in Turkey, who visited Adygea starting from July 30, intend to return to the republic and to enter the institutions of higher education. Such trips are important, since they acquaint young people with the opportunities, offered by the state, including opportunities for education. Azerbaijan natives lead among Caucasian athletes by number of medals won at London Olympics
According to the information of the "Caucasian Knot", based on the own materials of the edition and information from other open sources, natives of Azerbaijan, who won ten medals of various denominations, became the most successful athletes at the London Olympic Games among athletes from the Caucasus. The second place went to natives of Georgia, who won seven medals. North Ossetia with five medals became the next region in the all-medal table of the Olympic Games.

An international conference “Lessons of the Holocaust and modern Russia” opened on August, 12, in Southern research center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Rostov-on-Don within the framework of memorial actions devoted to the 70th anniversary of the tragedy in Zmievskaya balka. The main topic of the scientific forum is the Holocaust in Northern Caucasus and fates of the Jewish intelligentsia during the years of the Second World War.
