Thirteen people were killed as a result of the hostage-taking in a penal colony in the city of Surovikino in Volgograd Region. One of the penal colony employees died in the hospital, and two more victims stay in severe condition, the “Kommersant” reported with reference to the Volgograd Region Committee for Public Health.

Magomed Shamsudinov, a resident of the Dagestani village of Tlokh, was detained on suspicion of using force against his acquaintance, and the victim initially testified that Magomed Shamsudinov was not guilty, advocate Aidemir Ismailov reported.

The advocate of Malik Gandaloev, a native of Ingushetia, a figurant in the case of hostage-taking at the Rostov SIZO (pre-trial prison), has filed an appeal complaint against the verdict passed by the Southern District Military Court in the case of his participation in the "Islamic State" (IS)* and the manufacture of explosives.

After checking Bogdan Abdurakhmanov's statement that his testimony has been obtained under pressure, the court that considers the case of setting fire to the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office) located in the town of Goryachy Klyuch, has scheduled to interrogate the law enforcers involved. This was informed by Bogdan's advocate.

The rights of inmates from Dagestan are violated in the penal colony located in the Smolensk Region; some of them are kept in the dungeon (punishment cell), while others have cut their veins in protest, a source has reported. Zapir Alkhasov, the Ombudsperson of Dagestan, has reported that he had taken the incident under his control.
