Valery Gaevskiy, Governor of the Stavropol Territory, has introduced the post of the Ombudsperson in charge of children's rights. This was reported by the press service of the Governor. Svetlana Adamenko, earlier deputy minister of education of the Territory, was appointed to the post.

In Chechnya, the law enforcer, who shot dead his two colleagues in summer of 2009, when he took them for militants, will face justice. He is under threat of a criminal punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.

On February 9, the Kirov District Court of Astrakhan authorized arrest of 7 out of 19 servicemen of the local battalion of the Road-Post Service (RPS), suspected of regular extorting bribes from motorists. Elmin Badalov, editor of the "Polygon" information agency, was dismissed from his 4th year of the Petro-Mechanical Department of the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy (ASOA). The Frontier Department (FD) of the Russian FSB in South Ossetia has announced the reasons, which forced warrant officer Khripun to desert on December 21 from his post of frontier control. According to Colonel Dmitri Chikirov, deputy head of the above Department, Khripun's flight across the border was a provocation of Georgian special services.

It is expected that Alexander Khloponin, Mr Medvedev's plenipotentiary for the NCFD (North-Caucasian Federal District), will present the nominee.
