The first place was awarded to Alexei Pivovarov for the video report "Why Dagestan has become a hot spot on the epidemic map".

Five years ago, Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was shot dead. Over these years, investigators failed to establish the killer and the customer. The investigation was repeatedly suspended. The last, eighth decision to suspend it was made in April 2016. This June, it was resumed, but no particular results are known yet.

Till present, the murderers of the journalist have not been found, and that fact indicates the investigators' unwillingness to solve the crime. The "Caucasian Knot" has named the winners of the annual award for journalistic materials about the Caucasus, organized in memory of Dagestani journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev. Journalist Svetlana Anokhina has been recognized the winner of the Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev Prize for 2016 for her article "Circumcised women subject their daughters to circumcision".
