The Tbilisi City Court refused to satisfy the claim of Russian deserter Vladislav Tatarintsev against the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, which refused to grant him international protection.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot" on September 17, activists stated that the Georgian authorities granted international protection for one year to Russian deserter Vladislav Tatarintsev. However, the next day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia called the information about granting international protection a complete lie.
The court refused to satisfy the claim of Russian deserter Vladislav Tatarintsev, who challenged the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, which denied him international protection, writes "Georgia-Online" on November 6.
Lawyer Adilari Tsirgava requested the court to summon two witnesses who were supposed to tell the court about the situation in Russia. However, the judge refused, after which the defense requested to postpone the hearing until December 2 to have time for consultation. But the judge also denied this. Tatarintsev himself, speaking in court, stated that he faces death in Russia, and this fact gives him the right to seek asylum or another status.
The defense stated that it would appeal the decision in the appellate court.
Let us remind you that Georgia and Armenia are not a reliable refuge for those who left Russia for political reasons, as there is a high influence of Russian special services in them, said Russian human rights defenders surveyed by "Caucasian Knot" in March 2024. In December 2023, Dmitry Setrakov, mobilized from the Rostov region, who left the unit and, with the help of human rights defenders, went to Yerevan, was taken out by Russian security forces from Armenia.
