The opposition of Armenia announced actions against the change of the Constitution.

Starting from November 8, the opposition intends to hold informational actions about the risks of changing the Constitution of Armenia, said the head of the parliamentary faction "Strong Armenia" Narek Karapetyan.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the largest opposition parties of Armenia announced a unification of efforts against the policy of territorial concessions, for the protection of the church and democracy. The joint statement was issued against the backdrop of the detention of the leader of "Strong Armenia" Samvel Karapetyan.

A number of opposition political forces in Armenia intend to hold informational actions starting from November 8 about the risks posed by the "Aliyev Constitution," reported the head of the parliamentary faction "Strong Armenia" Narek Karapetyan following a meeting of representatives of parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition.

According to him, the actions will be held in Yerevan with the participation of party leaders and activists of political forces that supported the joint initiative signed on November 4.

"We intend to talk to the people, to inform citizens about our position regarding the constitutional reform and explain what risks the draft amendments to the Basic Law contain," quotes his words "News Armenia".

According to him, the meeting was dedicated to coordinating the actions of political forces opposing constitutional changes, which, in their opinion, may be carried out under external pressure.

Karapetyan reported that the participants of the discussion managed to agree on common approaches for further work. According to him, soon the "Wings of Unity" party will also join the initiative.

There is no mention of changing the Constitution in the peace treaty, said Karapetyan.

"This is a new demand from Aliyev. If Aliyev sees that he demands, and we give in, he will continue to delay the signing. The only way to stop concessions is to show that there is nowhere left to concede. If a new demand is put forward in addition to the peace treaty, who guarantees that no new one will appear after that?" — quotes his words Yerevan Today.

In the parliamentary elections in Armenia, "Strong Armenia" of Samvel Karapetyan, "Armenia" of Robert Kocharyan, and "Prosperous Armenia" of Gagik Tsarukyan were the most pro-Russian forces. The Kremlin bet on Karapetyan, noted Armenian political scientists. "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a reference "Elections 2026 in the National Assembly (parliament) of Armenia".

Baku will sign a peace treaty with Yerevan after Armenia renounces territorial claims and enshrines this in the Constitution, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Munich Security Conference. Earlier, on September 20, 2025, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that Baku and Yerevan could sign a peace treaty provided that territorial claims are removed from the text of the Constitution of Armenia. In February 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia needs to change the basic law through a referendum. The new Constitution, according to him, should enshrine the ideology of "Real Armenia," identifying the homeland with an internationally recognized state. The proposal of the Armenian Prime Minister provoked sharp criticism in society.

For the final peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia to become a reality, it is necessary to make changes to that part of the Constitution of Armenia where territorial claims to Azerbaijan are present, said Baku officials. The Prime Minister of Armenia promised to publish the text of the new Constitution by the end of the year.
