Alexander Nozdrinov has been transferred to strict conditions of detention.
Kuban blogger and journalist Alexander Nozdrinov, convicted under the article on the dissemination of fakes about the army, has been transferred to strict conditions of detention. Prior to this, the colony administration imposed two more penalties on him. Nozdrinov filed a complaint with the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", journalist and blogger from Krasnodar Krai Alexander Nozdrinov was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for a criminal case on the dissemination of fakes about the army (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and the court also prohibited him from working in the media for four years. The journalist's relatives linked the persecution to his civic position and stated that the court was biased, to which the defense presented evidence of Nozdrinov's innocence. The journalist was convicted for his assistance to other people, noted his wife. The defense appealed the verdict, stating that the first-instance court showed bias and that the verdict was based on the conclusions of an unprofessional examination. However, the appellate court upheld the verdict, ignoring the arguments presented in the appeal by the defense. In May 2024, Nozdrinov was transferred to a colony in Khadyzhensk. Colony staff placed Kuban journalist and blogger Alexander Nozdrinov in a punishment cell due to the style of his cap. Relatives believe the real reason is the filing of a cassation complaint regarding the penalty.
Alexander Nozdrinov has been transferred to strict conditions of detention, this was reported in a letter by acquaintances from his squad in the colony.
Before this, he spent three weeks in a punishment cell due to three penalties imposed by the IK-9 "Khadyzhensk" administration in anticipation of the court hearing on the cassation complaint. The reason for the first penalty was a "non-regulation cap" that Nozdrinov had been wearing since 2024. He received the second and third penalties for sleeping at the table. At the same time, according to Nozdrinov, in the photo presented as "evidence," it is impossible to distinguish the identity of the sleeping person.
In addition to the cassation complaint, Nozdrinov sent an appeal to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. In it, the political prisoner asks to pay attention to the opaque calculation of salaries in the colony and the lawlessness of the staff.
Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, under which Nozdrinov was convicted, contradicts the Constitution of Russia, as well as basic principles of law, human rights defenders stated ("Caucasian Knot" can provide the name of the organization upon request). "The wording of the article does not allow for a prior determination of which statements are lawful and which are prohibited. A citizen cannot know in advance which of his statements, which information may be considered false in this context, falling under this norm," emphasized the human rights defenders.
