Three convicts in the case of the attempted storming of the presidential palace in Georgia have been released.

Nana Sander, Irakli Chkhvirikia, and Zurab Chavchanidze, convicted in the case of the attempted storming of the presidential palace in Georgia, have been released under a procedural agreement.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", at the end of June, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Nana Sander to seven years in prison, Abo Naveriani and Anton Uper received five years each for the storming of the presidential palace in October 2025. Mariam Mekantsishvili was fined. The appellate court upheld the sentence for the participants in the attempted storming of the presidential palace in Tbilisi. Nana Sander concluded an agreement.

One of the convicts in the case of the action on October 4, Nana Sander, left the penitentiary institution. She was released from custody based on a procedural agreement. After her release from prison, Nana Sander stated, "The 13-month torture has ended," reports "Interpressnews".

"The 13-month torture has ended, in the literal sense, both psychological and physical. I am free. Of course, I am glad to be free, but there is disappointment in the sense that in prison, besides prisoners of conscience and political prisoners, there are many innocent prisoners, thousands of people imprisoned under unjust sentences," she stated, pointing out that human rights are violated in both women's and men's prisons.

Irakli Chkhvirikia left the Gldani penitentiary institution; he was also released based on a procedural agreement.

The prosecution charged Irakli Chkhvirikia with attempting to seize facilities of special significance and participating in organized group violence. The city court sentenced him to 5 years in prison for this case. According to the terms of the procedural agreement, the actual sentence for Irakli Chkhvirikia was set at 1 year and 1 month, and another 2 years were counted as a conditional sentence.

The third released person is Zurab Chavchanidze. According to the procedural agreement, he was assigned an actual prison term of 1 year and 1 month, and another 2 years were defined as a conditional conviction.

The Tbilisi City Court sentenced Chavchanidze to 5 years in prison; the parties formalized the procedural agreement in the Appellate Court.

On October 2025, on the day of the municipal elections, thousands of people gathered in the center of Tbilisi. After opera singer Paata Burchaladze announced the declaration that power in Georgia belongs to the people, clashes began between protesters and law enforcement near the presidential palace. Law enforcement used special means, while protesters used firecrackers. Six demonstrators and 21 law enforcement officers were hospitalized, and another 30 people received medical assistance on the spot. The police initiated a criminal case in connection with calls for the overthrow of power, attacks on police officers, and the storming of the palace. In early May, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced the organizers and participants of the protest action that took place on October 4, 2025, on the day of the municipal elections, which ended with an attempted storming of the presidential palace, to long sentences. The defense called the sentence politically motivated. In early June, eight defendants in the case of the storming of the Georgian presidential administration building on October 4 were released after concluding a procedural agreement. They were sentenced to three years probation in exchange for pleading guilty. On June 19, the Tbilisi City Court announced the sentence for six defendants - five years in prison. On June 22, another eight people were sentenced to five-year terms. Of these, six people who pleaded guilty and concluded procedural agreements were released in the courtroom.
