The case of Mohamad Mogushkov for the murder of a teacher in France has reached the court.

A special jury court for terrorist crimes has begun to consider the case of native Ingush Mohamad Mogushkov, who killed teacher Dominique Bernard in 2023 at a high school in Arras.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early 2024, the accused in the case of the murder of a teacher at a school in the city of Arras, France, native Ingush Mohamad Mogushkov, testified in court for the first time. He stated that he intentionally committed the murder of the teacher because educational institutions shape ideology.

On October 13, 2023, a teacher was killed at a school in the city of Arras, France, and two other people were stabbed as a result of the attack. The attacker was identified by French media as 20-year-old Mohamad Mogushkov, a native of Chechnya. On October 16, it became known that about 60 people, including natives of the North Caucasus republics, would be expelled from France following this crime. The Russian embassy responded by stating that the French authorities had effectively suspended cooperation with Russia in law enforcement. Mohamad Mogushkov, who was charged with the murder of the teacher, initially refused to speak with investigators; his younger brother and cousin were also arrested. Mogushkov's father was deported from France for involvement in a terrorism case, French media noted on October 19, 2023. They also clarified that the family came to France from Ingushetia, not from Chechnya, as previously reported.

Native Ingush Mohamad Mogushkov will stand trial before a special jury court for the murder of teacher Dominique Bernard at a school in the city of Arras. The court is considering terrorist-related crimes, "Kommersant" reports today.

On October 13, 2023, Russian citizen, native Ingush Mohamad Mogushkov, armed with two knives, burst into the Gambetta-Carnot high school in Arras. His victim was 57-year-old Dominique Bernard, a French language and literature teacher. Three other school staff members were injured. The attack lasted about ten minutes.

Prior to this, Mogushkov had already been on the radar of French intelligence services due to his commitment to radical Islamism. In a video released before the attack, he pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization "Islamic State"*.

According to investigators, the terrorist act was the result of a premeditated plan and careful preparation, which included, in particular, reconnaissance of the area and the purchase of knives. Investigators believe that by choosing targets and planning the details of the attack, the assailant aimed to "demonstrate his hatred for the Western way of life in general and for schools in particular," reports the French publication La Depeche.

During interrogations, Mohamad Mogushkov stated that he chose the teacher as his target to strike at "democracy - continuing the terrorist acts committed earlier in France." Meanwhile, a decision was made to terminate the criminal case against his brother and cousin due to the death of Dominique Bernard. The prosecution intends to appeal this decision.

Mogushkov's attack on the teacher was reportedly timed to coincide with the anniversary of a similar crime: on October 16, 2020, in the suburbs of Paris, teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded after showing students caricatures of the prophet Muhammad from the magazine Charlie Hebdo during a lesson on freedom of speech.

The alleged killer was shot by police; he turned out to be 18-year-old Russian citizen, native Chechen Abdulak (Abdullah) Anzorov, who had received refugee status in France. Anzorov was buried in the family cemetery in the village of Shalazhi in the Urus-Martan district.
