Seven soldiers from Dagestan were killed in Ukraine

Ibrahim Khanov, Rasim Shabanov, and five more of their fellow countrymen from the Derbent district were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly named at least 2,197 killed soldiers from Dagestan.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by October 31, officials and security forces officially recognized at least 5,008 servicemen from the Southern Federal District and 4,946 fighters from the North Caucasian Federal District as killed in Ukraine, including 2,190 from Dagestan.

The names of seven killed combatants from Dagestan were made public today by the administration of the Derbent district, reporting on the presentation of posthumous awards to their relatives.

Two natives of the village of Mamedkala, Lieutenant Magomedov Magomed and sailor Aivaz Alirzaev, were awarded the “For Courage” medal and the Order of Courage, respectively, the official Telegram channel of the municipality reported.

Posthumous orders were also awarded to Private Edalet Isayev (village of Mitagi), Ibrahim Khanov (village of Sabnova), and Rasim Shabanov (village of Michurino). In addition, the Order of Courage was presented to the relatives of Senior Sailor Ruslan Askerov from the village of Rubas and Junior Sergeant Shamil Muslimov from the village of Zidyankazmalyar.

The age and biographical details of the killed servicemen are not provided in the officials' message.

Thus, at least 2,197 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasian Federal District and Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and security agencies, according to the report from "Caucasian Knot" "Statistics of the Special Military Operation: Losses in Southern Russia are Increasing".

At the end of October, it became known that Sharapudin Kurbanov from the Derbent district was killed in combat in Ukraine.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasian Federal District and Southern Federal District in the number of killed in the military operation whose names have been officially disclosed by the authorities. In February 2022, Sergey Melikov, who was then the head of Dagestan, was the first among the authorities to report that a Russian soldier - officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov - was killed in Ukraine.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on "Channel One" do not guarantee support from the state for the families of the killed, as stated in the material from "Caucasian Knot" "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Deny Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers", which describes the stories of the killed fighters. "I receive only twelve thousand rubles a month for two minor children as a family of military pensioners," complains the widow of Vasily Shtylun, who received five million rubles from the "Veterans" unit for her husband killed in 2022.
