Grozny residents urged officials to expedite the resolution of the problem with faulty elevators.

In Grozny, work has begun to replace faulty elevators; the new cabins will be equipped with communication with dispatchers, authorities reported. Residents, commenting on this report on social media, complained that elevators in their buildings have been out of service for up to six months, and during frequent breakdowns, passengers wait for hours to be freed from the cabins, and they asked to expedite the replacement of the equipment.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in September 2025, Grozny Mayor Khas-Magomed Kadyrov dismissed the official responsible for the condition of the elevators after complaints from residents of the microdistrict on Lev Yashina Street. However, on September 4, residents pointed out that the dismissal does not solve the problem of worn-out equipment. They spoke about long downtimes of elevators and also complained that passengers have repeatedly been trapped in the elevators.

Earlier, Grozny residents stated that non-working elevators are a common occurrence in the city, and this is just part of a larger problem with the state of public utilities. They considered the dismissal of the official responsible for the condition of the elevators a populist move.

Grozny Mayor Khas-Magomed Kadyrov checked the progress of elevator replacements in the city's apartment buildings, reported the agency "Grozny-Inform" on October 31.

This year, it is planned to replace 51 out of 1069 elevators in Grozny. Work has begun on 18 sites: specialists are dismantling old equipment and worn-out elements in the shafts while simultaneously assembling new elevators. The new equipment will be equipped with a dispatching complex, the publication stated.

The message that the Grozny mayor checked the progress of elevator replacements was also published by the Instagram*-public grozny_inform, which has about 992 thousand followers. As of 09:45 Moscow time on November 2, this post received 186 likes and 38 comments.

Grozny residents in the comments complained about long downtimes of elevators and asked to replace the equipment in their buildings. "On Lev Yashina, 15d, entrance 1, it also needs to be replaced. It hasn't worked for six months," wrote umkhaevaiakha.

"Aydamir, 131, building 6, also replace it, it works for a week, then stands for two months," reported ramzan_1977_.

"Lev Yashina, 17, is already being replaced, Alhamdulillah, it hasn't worked for almost three months," wrote zarema1981.

Other commentators spoke about frequent elevator breakdowns and the fear of getting stuck in the cabin. "Boulevard Dudaev, 18A house, the elevator operators probably know us all by now, our elevator broke down every day, and now it barely works. Half of the residents of our house are afraid to ride it; they often get stuck in it," complained milan__doc.

"I kindly ask on behalf of all residents of the house: ul. Orzamieva, 32, the elevator breaks down at least 2-3 times a week, people constantly get stuck in the elevators and are there for hours until the elevator operator arrives," wrote dadaeva.aminat.

"And there are elderly residents in the house; it is doubly hard for them to climb. Please resolve the issue," urged serdzeangela_78.

A specialist in engineering and technical support for buildings ismail_saydulkhanov responded to residents' appeals in the same thread. In response to complaints about addresses on Lev Yashina, Orzamieva, and Aydamir streets, he promised a commission inspection of the equipment and explanations of the decisions made by the end of next week. To the residents of house No. 47 on Sadaeva Street, the specialist reported that work in the problematic entrance has already begun.
