"Strong Armenia" submitted a statement to the territorial electoral commission No. 25, demanding the annulment of the results of the municipal elections in Stepanavan. The party pointed to hundreds of violations, the use of administrative resources, interference by law enforcement in the election campaign, and material incentives for voters.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 25, municipal elections were held in 21 communities. Violations of the secrecy of voting, procedural violations, campaigning, and illegal control were recorded at the polling stations, observers stated. Many people who are forced to work outside Armenia were deprived of access to voting, the opposition emphasized.
Shortly before the elections in Stepanavan, law enforcement detained 24 people, including the candidate for the position of community head from "Strong Armenia", Arsen Gevorgyan, who was later arrested. Gevorgyan's defense rejected the accusations, stating that the money was intended for election expenses.
