The authorities of Dagestan reported on the temporary bypass road near the "Red Bridge."

In the Gergebil district, traffic has been opened on a temporary bypass road near the "Red Bridge," which collapsed after prolonged rains and the release of water from the Gotsatlinsky Hydroelectric Power Station.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 3, the span structure of the Red Bridge over the Kara-Koysu River, which was being repaired after flooding, collapsed after prolonged rains and the release of water from the Gotsatlinsky Hydroelectric Power Station. The bridge had previously suffered due to flooding, after which emergency restoration work was carried out on it. The authorities of Dagestan reported that specialists will assess the possibility of restoring the existing structures, and in the case of prolonged work, the construction of a temporary bridge crossing is being considered.

Communication between the mountainous regions of Dagestan and the flat part of the republic has been complicated due to the collapse of the Red Bridge. The detour routes are longer and pass through poor roads, making trips and the transportation of agricultural products difficult, and with the onset of frost, the situation will worsen, residents of the Shamil, Khunzakh, and Tlyaratinsky districts reported.

In the Gergebil district, traffic has been opened on a temporary bypass road near the "Red Bridge." This will allow residents of several mountainous municipalities to significantly reduce travel time, reported the head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin.

"The road, with a total length of 600 meters, crosses the riverbeds of the Avar Koysu and Kara-Koysu. All types of vehicles are allowed — from passenger cars to trucks. Road signs and other technical means of organizing road traffic have been installed on the road," he noted, adding that the first trip on the temporary bypass road in a "Kamaz" was made with the chairman of the republic's government, Magomed Ramazanov.

"At the same time, emergency restoration work continues on the bridge. Specialists have begun drilling wells for the installation of bored piles — the foundation for restoring the intermediate support of the bridge," the head of the republic indicated.
