The authorities' promises about the construction of a new school did not convince the residents of Gyukhryag.

In the village of Gyukhryag in the Tabasaransky district of Dagestan, construction of a new school is planned to begin in 2027 and be completed by September 2029, authorities promised. Residents of the village, commenting on this news on social media, expressed doubts about the fulfillment of yet another promise and criticized officials for the years-long delay in construction, due to which 150 children are forced to study in a private house and the offices of the village administration.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 27, it became known that a criminal case was initiated regarding the violation of the rights of children from the village of Gyukhryag in the Tabasaransky district of Dagestan to receive education in proper conditions. After the emergency school was closed in 2019, students were transferred to makeshift premises, and on September 9, villagers complained about unsatisfactory learning conditions.

Construction of a school for 150 places in Gyukhryag is planned to start in the summer of 2027 and be completed by September 2029, the Ministry of Construction of Dagestan stated. After the old school was closed, about 150 children have been studying for seven years in a private house and the offices of the village administration. In the private house, the teachers' room, the director's office, and the computer class are located in one room, and students prepare for exams in the corridor. There is no gym, and water for the school kitchen is brought from a neighboring kindergarten, reported REN TV.

"The completion of the construction is planned for September 2029," the channel quoted the ministry's message in its report.

A resident of Gyukhryag Abdulvagab Mamedov said that the villagers are tired of years of promises: "We do not believe these leaders," he stated in a news segment published on October 27 on the channel's website.

On October 28, the Instagram*-public dagestan_like, which has about 103.2 thousand followers, reported that the school problem in Gyukhryag was shown on a federal TV channel. As of 16:00 Moscow time on October 31, this post received 1068 likes and 95 comments.

Residents of Gyukhryag expressed doubts in the comments that the school construction would be completed on time. "By then, this school will not be relevant; there simply won't be any students," wrote kaplan_pro_master.

"Why haven't they allocated money for construction yet? They probably didn't want to. Can't they agree on one project?" asked zulya_0972g.

"Poor people. I wonder if anything has changed after this report?" questioned user gorod_shtor_derbent.

Commentators noted the learning conditions for children who have been waiting for a new school for many years. "Children deserve to study in normal and safe conditions! How much longer can deadlines be postponed? A school is not a luxury, but a necessity. We hope that promises will finally become a reality and children will receive decent conditions for learning," emphasized yaralieva_zulka_08_11_2000.

Users also pointed out that children have to prepare for the main state exam (OGE) and the unified state exam (EGE) in unsuitable premises. "And the requirements for OGE and EGE are the same across Russia. Poor children and teachers of such schools! And everyone is silent. Seven years!" noted user ozden_fat.

"Why are the deadlines being pushed back, and where are they moving them to? To dams and roads, where they stole, now everything is being washed away. Hello, where are the schools? Where are the hospitals? What kind of building do children come to study in?" questioned user 7.ok_555.

A number of commentators demanded the resignation and accountability of officials whom they believe are responsible for the years-long delay in construction. "Put the head of the district on trial and remove him from office," demanded _radzhabov_444.

"The Minister of Education of the republic is not in his place. If you can't work, you should give others a chance who can handle the responsibilities," stated user severynk_a8.

"Fire the head of the district, the regional education minister, deputies, and all involved! Are you deliberately creating such conditions to anger the people and undermine the authority of the country's leadership? Punish them!" urged user fergiusonseraleks.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that residents of Dagestan periodically complain about dilapidated and unsuitable schools. For example, on October 7, residents of the village of Shushanovka in the Kizilyurt district complained about the flooded school yard, lack of a gym, and normal toilets. On October 6, residents of the village of Aksai in the Khasavyurt district reported on the poor condition of school premises and classes in three shifts; authorities stated that the recognized emergency building was closed.

On January 25, 2024, parents and teachers from the village of Shinaaz in the Rutul district reported that more than 100 children are forced to study in two shifts in a dilapidated and cold building, and the construction of a new school has been delayed.
