The former head of the housing and communal services of Buynaksk was convicted for embezzlement during the improvement of the park.

The court in Dagestan sentenced the head of the housing and communal services department of Buynaksk to four and a half years in prison for embezzling more than 13 million rubles from the city budget. Along with him, the head of the contracting organization was convicted.

According to the materials of the criminal case, the convicted individuals embezzled budgetary funds from the administration of Buynaksk through deception.

According to the investigation, they inflated the cost of construction materials and the volume of work performed. The embezzled money was intended for the improvement of the public area "City Garden" in conjunction with the alley on Lenin Street, reports the united press service of the courts of Dagestan on their Telegram channel.

The amount of embezzled funds amounted to more than 13 million rubles, which is considered a particularly large amount of embezzlement.

Both defendants were found guilty, taking into account their roles. The Buynaksk City Court sentenced the former head of the housing and communal services department to four years and six months in a general regime colony, and the contractor to three years and six months. Both were additionally sentenced to deprivation of the right to hold positions in public service and local government for a period of two years and six months after their release.

The damage caused by the crime has been fully compensated, the press service of the courts clarifies.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that at the end of July, the court temporarily suspended from office the head of the administration of Buynaksk, suspected of fraud using official position and official forgery.
