Two brothers were convicted in Stavropol for a case of labor slavery.
The Kochubeyevsky District Court of the Stavropol Territory sentenced two brothers to seven and six years of imprisonment. They were accused of using the slave labor of a resident of Adygea for one and a half years.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in March, the court in the Kochubeyevsky District of Stavropol arrested two brothers, accused of forcing a young man into slave labor for one and a half years. A video appeal from the victim was published by the organization "Russian Community". At the end of May, the case of the brothers was referred for consideration in court.
The "Alternative" movement considers the Rostov region and Stavropol Territory to be the most problematic in terms of labor slavery in southern Russia. "Recruiters" look for potential workers at the train stations of major cities, and the victims of traffickers are often people from the provinces coming for work, according to a report by the "Caucasian Knot" titled "Slavery in the North Caucasus".
The court established that the two brothers from the village of Kochubeyevsk deceived a 22-year-old victim by offering him a good salary to provide commercial services using trampoline systems. The regional prosecutor's office clarified that the victim is a resident of Adygea, Interfax reports, citing the press service of the supervisory authority.
In 2024-2026, the defendants held the victim, took away his mobile phone and documents, forcing him to perform household tasks, including car repairs and construction work. They used violence against him, filming everything on a phone camera, the Investigative Committee for the region informs.
The Kochubeyevsky District Court found them guilty of using slave labor and sentenced the brothers to 7 and 6 years in a general regime colony. The sanctions of the article provide for imprisonment from three to ten years.
The convicted also compensated for moral damage in the amount of 1 million 200 thousand rubles.
The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that on May 5, 2022, the "Alternative" movement announced on its Instagram page about the rescue from labor slavery of a resident of Budyonnovsk, who was forcibly held on a farm near Arzgir. According to activists, the man falls under the category of socially vulnerable people due to the lack of relatives and proper education, and he had no documents.
