The former Minister of Finance of Armenia, arrested on charges of bribery and money laundering, does not get out of bed; he has developed bedsores and pneumonia. At the same time, he is not allowed to receive treatment from the penitentiary hospital.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the former Minister of Finance of Armenia, former chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan was detained in early September on charges of receiving a bribe and money laundering on a large scale.
Lawyer Yerem Sarkisyan reported on October 27 that the health condition of Gagik Khachatryan, who is in the "Center for Penitentiary Medicine", has significantly worsened, writes "Voice of Armenia".
According to him, after the arrest, Khachatryan has not gotten out of bed as he cannot move independently; he has developed bedsores and pneumonia. The defense has repeatedly requested the transfer of the former official to a hospital for necessary treatment, but he has not been transferred from the penitentiary institution.
The lawyer also noted that the defense was informed about the provision of necessary medical equipment for persons with disabilities to Khachatryan, but the former official is unable to use it. In particular, this refers to a wheelchair. Sarkisyan also mentioned that Khachatryan has been assigned a caregiver.
It should be noted that during the arrest, Khachatryan's lawyer reported that he had been diagnosed with spinal canal stenosis back in 2015, and special implants were installed in his cervical spine.
