The court in Kuban issued a verdict in the case of embezzlements in defense procurement.
The October District Court of Novorossiysk found three members of an organized group guilty of embezzling more than 146 million rubles allocated for the construction of military berths at the Novorossiysk naval base.
According to the court, from September 2018 to December 2020, the defendants, acting as part of an organized group, embezzled funds from the federal budget allocated for the execution of the state defense order for the installation of fenders at the berths of the Novorossiysk naval base of the Black Sea Fleet.
The work was carried out through the company "PortHydroStroy," whose director was Nikolai Savich. Instead of the fenders specified in the state contracts, products that did not meet technical requirements were installed, the united press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory reported today on its Telegram channel.
To create the appearance of fulfilling obligations, documents with false information about the completed work were prepared, based on which payments were made from federal budget funds. The damage to the state budget amounted to more than 146 million rubles.
The court found all three guilty of fraud committed by an organized group or on a particularly large scale and, based on the degree of participation of each defendant in the commission of the crime, sentenced them to imprisonment: Oleg Boychenko - for 7 years; Nikolai Savich - for 6 years; Viktor Papirnyk - for 6 years and 6 months. All convicted will serve their sentences in a general regime correctional colony.
In addition, a total of 146,192,105 rubles was awarded in favor of the Ministry of Defense. "The verdict has not yet entered into legal force," the press service's message states.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in early May, a suspect in the corruption case in the Kuban construction management was arrested. Investigators considered him involved in the Dmitry Taksidi case regarding abuse of power in the execution of the state defense order of the former first deputy general director of the "Main Directorate of Special Construction" Viktor Shkolyk.
