Bastrykin's reaction gave hope to the Nalchik fire victims.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin requested a report on the investigation into the circumstances of the fire in the apartment building in Nalchik and the residents' complaints about the lack of compensation and inadequate repairs. The fire victims themselves, commenting on Bastrykin's reaction on social media, expressed hope that his intervention would help restore their rights, which they had failed to achieve after appeals to officials.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on May 18, a fire occurred in house No. 241 on Kalmykov Street in Nalchik, after which residents were left without housing and property. After the fire, a criminal case was initiated for violations of fire safety requirements and the provision of unsafe services.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin requested a report on the progress of the criminal case regarding the fire in the apartment building in Nalchik, which occurred in May due to a domestic gas leak. The order was given to the head of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for Kabardino-Balkaria, Valery Ustov, who must provide information about the established circumstances of the incident and the results of the verification of the victims' claims, TASS reported on October 22, citing the Investigative Committee.

The reason for the order was publications on social media, where authors reported that owners of the affected apartments had been unable to receive compensation for the damage for a long time, and the repair of common property was being carried out inadequately. According to these reports, residents' appeals to authorized bodies yielded no results.

The message about Bastrykin's order was published on October 22 by the Instagram*-public _07_kbr, which has about 221.3 thousand followers. As of 11:40 Moscow time on October 25, this post had received 99 likes and 12 comments.

The fire victims and their supporters expressed hope that the intervention of the head of the Investigative Committee would help resolve the problems that residents could not cope with after appeals to officials. "I hope we are really being heard..." – wrote pereiaslovatimashiova.

"I really hope this helps. The authorities are here to solve citizens' problems, not to turn a blind eye to them!" – noted k_yuliya__v.

"It's interesting here, we have already addressed our problem, we are really just fed up with the deception. Apparently, this is the only authority you can turn to and be heard," – noted 0nina_nina.

Other participants in the discussion doubted the effectiveness of Bastrykin's intervention, citing previous experiences of fruitless appeals to federal authorities. "I doubt it... but God willing, let them strip everyone involved of their property and relocate you to their mansions, and them to a repaired house," – wrote al_kuashi.

"They fabricated a criminal case, there was a complaint to Bastrykin with evidence, sent it back, and now it's all silence," – stated kavkaz.pravda.tyt.

"We have also repeatedly written letters, and they were redirected to the local administration. This is one of the reasons why we are actively publishing information on social media," – explained lleerraaa___.

Recall that, according to the investigation, during the dismantling and replacement of the gas meter, employees of the gas company committed violations that led to a gas leak and fire, as a result of which apartments on the fifth and sixth floors were damaged, and five people, including two minors and a gas service worker, were hospitalized with signs of poisoning from combustion products. Subsequently, the fire victims complained about the lack of compensation and delays in restoring the building. On October 19, they demanded to expedite the repairs, stating that five months after the fire, the roof continues to leak, there is no electricity on the upper floors, heating is not turned on, and the results of the building's examination have not been provided to the residents.
