Two teenagers have been detained on suspicion of preparing an attack on a school in Georgia.

The police in Tbilisi detained two 14-year-old teenagers on charges of preparing group violence, specifically an attempt to organize a school shooting. One of the suspects has been arrested.

The fact of the detention was confirmed by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. According to information, the teenagers, students from different schools, planned an attack on their peers. Communication and coordination between them were carried out through video calls, as well as closed channels and chats on Telegram and TikTok, reports Newsgeorgia.

The father of one of the detainees reported that in their correspondence and conversations, the teenagers discussed the terrorist act committed in Norway in 2011 by Anders Breivik, as well as feature films containing scenes of mass violence. During searches at the residences of the detainees, the police seized a pistol (service/start weapon) and ammunition for it, a knife, a pepper spray canister, as well as protective gear (helmet and gloves), reports the publication "Sando ts'karo".

The investigation is being conducted under the article on preparation for organizing group violence or participating in it. At this time, the Tbilisi City Court has already considered the prosecutor's request regarding one of the 14-year-old teenagers and has chosen a preventive measure in the form of pre-trial detention; the court hearing for the preventive measure for the second detainee is scheduled for tomorrow, clarifies the Pirveli television company.

Later, the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia reported details of the planned attack on a school in Tbilisi: two teenagers planned to set up a dummy explosive device, break into the building, and open fire. This is stated in the statement of the supervisory authority.

The investigation established that the accused met on social networks in April-May 2026. During their communication, they came up with the idea of organizing an attack on an educational institution. The teenagers chose a specific school in Tbilisi and studied its internal layout in detail. To gain entry into the building, they planned to place a dummy bomb in front of the entrance to cause panic and distract the attention of security and staff.

"Taking advantage of the panic, the accused intended to sneak inside the building, cause a riot, and use weapons against the people inside the building. To implement this plan, the teenagers managed to acquire the necessary items and create conditions for committing the crime; however, the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees uncovered them and detained them," the agency's statement says.

The prosecutor's office charged the detainees under parts 1 and 2 of Article 18-225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia - preparation for organizing and participating in group actions accompanied by violence, riots, damage to property, and use of weapons. This crime carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 6 to 9 years.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in mid-January, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia announced the arrest of 16 people in Tbilisi, including ten minors, as participants of a neo-Nazi group. At least ten people were harmed by the actions of the radicals.
