In the military operation, 26-year-old corporal Andrey Vitynik was killed, who went to the combat zone "in the first days of the special military operation [...] first voluntarily under contract, then was mobilized," the Uryupinsk administration reported on its page on "VKontakte" on October 23.

"Andrey was killed while performing a combat mission in the Dobropol direction near Suvorovo [...]. He is survived by his mother, wife, and children," the publication states.

Thus, at least 1859 fighters from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

Earlier, the death of a fighter from Uryupinsk became known on September 30. At that time, the authorities reported that Sergey Nikulin was killed in the military operation.

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who were killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Statistics of the Special Military Operation: losses in southern Russia are increasing".

Recall that on September 21, 2022, Vladimir Putin announced "partial mobilization". On October 28 of the same year, the Minister of Defense reported to the President about its completion, but no corresponding decree followed. After the announcement of mobilization, attempts were recorded in the southern regions of Russia to mobilize people who, due to age or health conditions, should not be sent to the combat zone.

On October 4, 2022, the governor of the Volgograd region reported that military enlistment offices mistakenly mobilized 379 residents of the region, most of whom were not fit for service due to health reasons.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on "Channel One" do not guarantee support from the state for the families of the killed, according to the material of the "Caucasian Knot" "Three comrades served: how the authorities deprive the families of killed volunteers of benefits", which describes the stories of the killed fighters. "I receive only 12 thousand rubles a month for two minor children as a family of military pensioners," said, in particular, the widow of one of the killed.
