The Constitutional Court of Georgia rejected all motions during the hearing on the case to ban opposition parties.

During the three days of consideration of the lawsuit to ban opposition parties in the Constitutional Court of Georgia, none of the parties' motions were granted — a total of 13. On October 26, a decision will be announced regarding another motion to question representatives of "Georgian Dream" in court, including Bidzina Ivanishvili, after which the substantive examination of the lawsuit will begin.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 21, on the 693rd day of continuous pro-European actions, activists outside the Parliament of Georgia demanded to preserve multipartyism in the country against the backdrop of hearings in the Constitutional Court regarding the lawsuit of "Georgian Dream" to ban opposition parties.

"Georgian Dream" justified its demand to ban opposition parties by Article 23 of the Constitution of Georgia. It prohibits the creation and activities of parties whose goals are the violent change of the constitutional order, encroachment on the independence and territorial integrity of the country, propaganda of war and violence, or incitement of hatred. A reference titled "Main Points on the Ban of Opposition Parties in Georgia" has been published on "Caucasian Knot".

By the decision of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Revaz Nadaraia, the court session regarding the recognition of 5 opposition parties as unconstitutional will resume on October 26.

As Nadaraia stated, on the same day, the plenary will announce a decision on the motion of the party "Gakharia for Georgia", which concerns questioning specific political figures as witnesses, including Bidzina Ivanishvili and other current or former leaders of "Georgian Dream", after which the process will move to the substantive examination stage.

"After the motions are completed, the substantive examination begins. The substantive examination starts with the report of the reporting judge. I will announce the decision on Monday, and at the same time we will move to the substantive examination stage. These three days have shown that we have a lot of work ahead. I do not know if we will finish this week. If we do not finish, we will take a break the following week. Sessions will be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I do not ask either party; everyone is obliged to appear!" - his words are quoted by "Interpressnews".

Earlier today, the court already rejected one motion from the party "Gakharia for Georgia", which proposed postponing the session. The representative of the party "Gakharia for Georgia" Berdia Sichinava noted that in their case, the deadline for preparing a written response, as stipulated by the regulations, was not observed, which violates the principle of procedural fairness. According to Berdia Sichinava, the session should have been postponed for one month, and the countdown should have started from October 13. All three parties involved in the process - "United National Movement", "Lelo - Strong Georgia", and "Coalition for Changes" - agreed with the motion, the agency reports.

The judges of the Constitutional Court do not consider any motions and make very aggressive statements towards opposition politicians, overshadowing even their colleagues from the city court, stated the chairman of the governing council of the "National Movement" Irakli Pavlenishvili.

If before they tried to demonstrate and demonstratively granted at least one motion, now they have completely given up on this "packaging of democracy".

"It is obvious that they received instructions to quickly conclude the process, given that they scheduled sessions for the following week. Regarding the current stage of motions, it turned out that if before they tried to demonstrate and demonstratively granted at least one motion, now they have completely given up on this 'packaging of democracy'. The judges of the Constitutional Court do not consider any motions and make very aggressive statements towards opposition politicians, overshadowing even their colleagues from the city court. Over the past years, we have attended numerous processes in the city court. However, even there, there are no judges who so openly hide their aggression and hatred towards the opposition. It is very sad how the institutions have been captured and how they have been staffed. This is, of course, evident in this process," Pavlenishvili stated.

According to Georgy Sioridze, one of the leaders of the party "Lelo - Strong Georgia", the Constitutional Court presents new surprises to opposition parties every day. During the three days of consideration of the lawsuit in the Constitutional Court, none of the parties' motions were granted — a total of 13.

If before they tried to demonstrate and demonstratively granted at least one motion, now they have completely given up on this "packaging of democracy".

"Years, decades will pass, and "Georgian Dream" will enter history just like the Bolshevik party. How they behaved in the 20s and 30s. Moreover, we need facts, confirmations, not only for international courts but also for our international partners, European and American partners, so that they report not only some political assessments but also expose and demonstrate what this force represents. It uses the court as a tool to achieve its goals; it has two goals: to establish a dictatorship in this country, to ban the entire opposition spectrum, and to legalize the pro-Russian policy of "Georgian Dream"", - his words are quoted by the television company "Pirveli".

"The ban on political parties is not just a way to eliminate political opponents; it is a limitation of the political will of society and a step towards the gradual destruction of the possibility of changing power through democratic means," stated today the Archbishop of Dmanisi and Agarak-Tashir of the Georgian Orthodox Church Zenon Iarajulia on his Facebook page.

"When authorities seek to suppress political alternatives, they are not just fighting an opponent — they are destroying the very foundation on which a free state is built," translated his words Tbilisi Life,

The court must make a final decision by June 24, 2027, reports JamNews.
