The suspect in burning wreaths at the Eternal Flame has been detained in Stavropol.
Law enforcement reported the detention of a 34-year-old local resident in the Kochubeyevsky district of the Stavropol region, who was throwing wreaths into the Eternal Flame.
"As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early September, the head of Kislovodsk, Evgeny Moiseyev, informed about a group of teenagers who were behaving offensively at the "Cranes" memorial. The police promised to identify the teenagers.
Stavropol police have identified and detained a citizen who burned wreaths at the Eternal Flame, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reported today on its Telegram channel.
The incident occurred at the mass grave of Soviet soldiers in the village of Kazminskoye. According to the police, the man took a wreath from the memorial and threw it into the fire, after which he went for another one. The event was captured on video and spread on social media.
Criminal investigation officers identified the man and detained him near the memorial. The detainee was handed over to the investigators of the Investigative Committee for the Stavropol region.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in July 2025, a court sentenced four residents of Dagestan to terms in a settlement colony, who had previously publicly apologized for desecrating the Eternal Flame in Nevinnomyssk. In March 2024, investigators also opened a criminal case against three residents of the North Caucasus, accusing them of desecrating the Eternal Flame at the "Eternal Glory" obelisk in Nevinnomyssk. In October of the same year, the court sentenced all three to one year in a settlement colony.
