The FSB reported the detention of a resident of Kuban in a case of treason.

Law enforcement officials suspected a resident of the Krasnodar region of preparing a terrorist attack on a Ministry of Defense facility. The man has been detained and taken into custody, facing seven criminal charges.

The accused is about 45 years old, and the FSB referred to him as a man born in 1981. The court has already ruled to send him to a pre-trial detention center.

According to the version of law enforcement, the resident of the Krasnodar region voluntarily contacted a representative of some unit of the National Guard of Ukraine; it was also referred to as a "militarized national association" in a TASS report.

According to the FSB, the man recorded a video with an oath to a "terrorist organization," after which he received coordinates from a curator for a stash with instructions to assemble a bomb from hidden components. With this bomb, he allegedly intended to blow up an unnamed Ministry of Defense facility.

During a search of the detained man's home, law enforcement officials seized components of a homemade remote-controlled explosive device similar to a mine, narcotic substances, as well as "cash amounting to over 20 million rubles," quotes the message from the FSB for the Krasnodar region reported by "Kuban News."

In a short video released by the agency, it can be seen that armed law enforcement officials detained the man in a private house. The face of the detained individual is obscured in the video, and the moment when he states his name at the request of an armed fighter has been removed from the audio track.

Then the video shows a box with a white substance, wires, terminals, and a remote control key fob, a cellar with a large number of five-thousand-ruble banknotes, a transparent bag with dried plant material, and some bundles. The origin of the large sum of cash has not been commented on by the FSB.

The charges against the detainee have been brought under seven criminal articles, including preparation for a terrorist act, treason, participation in a terrorist organization, training for terrorism, possession of an explosive device, cultivation of narcotic plants, and possession of narcotics. The article on treason, which provides for up to 20 years of imprisonment, in conjunction with other charges could lead to life imprisonment.

The publication "Protocol" noted that on October 5, Alexander Zakladnoy, a native of the Caucasian stanitsa born in November 1981, was added to the list of terrorists and extremists. There is currently no confirmation that the FSB report refers to him.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Rostov Regional Court sentenced a local resident to 20 years in a strict regime for planning a sabotage on a transport infrastructure facility at the request of the Ukrainian special services. Earlier, the FSB reported the detention of an 18-year-old resident of Taganrog who was planning a terrorist act against Russian military personnel.
