Andrey Korobka has been released from the pre-trial detention center.
The Krasnodar Regional Court has softened the measure of restraint for former Vice-Governor of Kuban Andrey Korobka, releasing the official from custody under a written pledge not to leave.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the court in Krasnodar arrested Deputy Governor of Kuban Andrey Korobka on April 7 for two months, accused of fraud. During a search of his home, law enforcement seized almost 1 billion rubles in cash in various currencies, and the total value of the official's assets is estimated at 10 billion. The property of Korobka, his relatives, and associates has been confiscated.
According to the prosecution's version, in November 2025, Korobka proposed to a developer of a land plot in the Dinsky district to change the permitted use of the territory - to remove the plot from the industrial zone and transfer it to the medium-rise construction zone, in order to subsequently build apartment buildings there. The developer agreed and in January transferred 15 million rubles to the account of the organization "Pervorechensky Sports Club" controlled by Korobka.
The defense of former Vice-Governor Andrey Korobka achieved a softening of his measure of restraint by appealing the latest ruling of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnodar on extending the arrest. Considering the complaint of Korobka's lawyers, the Krasnodar Regional Court found that there were no grounds to keep the former official in the pre-trial detention center.
"During the entire period of the preliminary investigation and detention, apart from interrogation, confrontation, presentation of charges, and additional interrogation, no other investigative actions were conducted with the accused," the official Telegram channel of the courts of Kuban stated.
The court rejected the prosecution's argument that Korobka might flee from the investigation or obstruct the investigation, citing that the former vice-governor had not been officially accused of violating procedural obligations.
"The measure of restraint has been changed from detention to a written pledge not to leave and proper behavior. Korobka has been released from custody immediately," the press service of the regional court reported.
The court issued a "private determination for the delay" against the investigators who insisted on extending Korobka's arrest, as noted in the publication.
The softening of the measure of restraint for Korobka was influenced by Governor Veniamin Kondratiev's trip to Moscow and the negotiations held there, claims Kuban journalist Andrey Koshik in his Telegram channel.
According to Koshik, Andrey Korobka has already given testimony to the investigation, touching on the senior leadership of the region and personally the governor. At the end of June, Korobka's brother Grigory Korobka was also arrested on the same charges.
Andrey Korobka held the position of Vice-Governor since April 2015, overseeing the agro-industrial complex in the Kuban government. For the first six months, until October 2015, he was also the Minister of Agriculture and Processing Industry of Krasnodar Krai.
In 2010, Korobka was elected as a deputy of the Dinsky District Council from "United Russia". He also was a member of the political council of the district branch of the party, notes RusNews.
