Activist Georgy Kirvalidze, who served a seven-day sentence for insulting Bidzina Ivanishvili, was detained upon leaving the isolation facility; he is accused of insulting a judge.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 9, a court in Tbilisi arrested Georgy Kirvalidze for insulting Bidzina Ivanishvili for seven days, who is a subject of the case from October 4, 2025.

Georgy Kirvalidze, who was released from the isolation facility in Gurjaani on October 16 after serving a seven-day arrest, was immediately detained again, writes "Georgia-online" citing civil activist Tamuna Giorgadze.

This time, as the activist claims, Kirvalidze is charged with insulting a judge, and she added that this time criminal rather than administrative responsibility is mentioned.

Let us remind you that on October 4, 2025, municipal elections were held in all municipalities of Georgia, electing 64 mayors and 2058 local council deputies for four years. Eight opposition parties refused to participate in the elections, only the opposition parties "Lelo - Strong Georgia" and "Gakharia - for Georgia" did not support the boycott and nominated their candidates. Thousands of people took to the streets in protest against the election results. At least 44 people were detained, including Georgy Kirvalidze, who is considered a participant in group violence. The next large-scale elections in the country are scheduled for 2028, so the current voting is essentially crucial for both the authorities and the opposition, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report on "Municipal elections in Georgia on October 4, 2025".
