The convicted murderer of Mutayev has been released.

A resident of Dagestan, Nadirhan Kadirhanov, has been found guilty of murdering MMA fighter Magomedrasul Mutayev but was released from the courtroom.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in January 2025, the prosecutor's office sent the case regarding the murder of MMA fighter Magomed Mutayev to the Lenin District Court of Makhachkala. Nadirhan Kadirhanov, accused of murder out of revenge, had been in pre-trial detention since early February 2024.

On January 31, 2024, MMA fighter Magomedrasul Mutayev was shot multiple times near his home in Makhachkala and died on the way to the hospital. On February 3, police reported that 18-year-old Nadirhan Kadirhanov was detained on suspicion of murder. The investigation cited personal animosity as the motive for Mutayev's murder. Acquaintances of the detainee reported that he had been subjected to humiliation and abuse by Mutayev. According to other sources, Mutayev did not confront Kadirhanov one-on-one but gathered a group of about 15 people to beat Kadirhanov and humiliate him in front of witnesses.

On the results of the criminal case against Nadirhan Kadirhanov, a native of the Kumtorkalinsky district, reported late on October 14, the head of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) of Dagestan, Shamil Khadulaev.

According to Khadulaev, the Lenin District Court of Makhachkala announced the verdict in the Mutayev murder case the day before, on October 13. Nadirhan Kadirhanov was found guilty of murder in a state of emotional disturbance.

“Kadirhanov was sentenced to four years in prison. Considering that he has already served two years and eight months in pre-trial detention in Makhachkala (and in pre-trial detention, one year counts as 1.5 years), he walked out of the courtroom a free man,” Khadulaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

Mutayev's murder was preceded by an attempted murder: in the summer of 2023, he was shot at with a traumatic pistol, but no one was injured at that time. Friends of the 21-year-old athlete describe him as a conflict-prone person. The fighter was considered one of the brightest students of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of Russian MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that Shamil Khadulaev, who was then the deputy chairman of the PMC of Dagestan (now the head of the commission), after visiting Kadirhanov in pre-trial detention, informed that he spoke about beatings and humiliations by the athlete in the presence of others. Khadulaev stated that he had not reviewed the materials of the Mutayev murder case and had not signed any non-disclosure documents. Khadulaev considered the accusations of disclosing investigation secrets as pressure.
