Georgy Davitadze, who complained about violence from prison staff, continues to face pressure; he was insulted and had his television taken away, reported his lawyer.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", convict Georgy Davitadze stated in court that he was subjected to sexualized violence in a solitary cell of Rustavi prison No. 6. According to him, up to 10 guards were involved in the violence, but none of the staff he named have been held accountable. On October 10, the Prosecutor General's Office terminated the investigation into the possible violence against Davitadze. According to the investigation's findings, during the search, Davitadze was not subjected to violence, and the staff acted within the law, using only superficial pat-downs and a metal detector to check his body. The penitentiary service also rejected the accusations. Davitadze's mother stated about the bias of the investigators.
On October 13, Davitadze's lawyer Marika Arevadze stated that pressure continues to be exerted on her client in prison, writes "Georgia Online".
According to her, Davitadze told her that two prison staff insulted him, and when he responded, his television was taken away. "When he was in the cell, two guards cursed at him through the window. To this insult, Georgy reacted verbally. They took his television away (apparently, they don't want him to see the support of the people)," the publication quotes the lawyer's words.
Arevadze also added that she saw a representative of the ombudsman, to whom she conveyed this information and demanded that Davitadze be visited.
