Adakhov spoke about his health being undermined due to the persecution by law enforcement.
The conflict with officials and law enforcement from the Astrakhan region led to the second detention this year of activist Davud Adakhov in Stavropol, who is engaged in protecting the rights of farmers. According to him, the first time he spent two months in custody, although he was not called for a single interrogation. The second time, the court refused to arrest him; currently, a case is being investigated against Adakhov for insulting a law enforcement officer. The time spent in the pre-trial detention center undermined his health, the activist complained.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in mid-August, law enforcement in the Stavropol region detained activist Davud Adakhov, who is engaged in protecting the rights of farmers and agricultural animals.
The defender of southern Russian farmers, the chairman of the "People's Union" organization, Davud Adakhov, has been detained twice this year, he told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".
"The first time it happened on April 9. That day I was going to deliver humanitarian aid to Dagestan, to those affected by the flood – flour, pasta, shovels, and 60 rams, which I was supposed to collect from various farms (due to my arrest, the rams could not be collected, but the rest of the humanitarian aid was delivered by members of our union). But
at night I was detained, claiming that I was supposedly wanted," he said.
According to him, he was declared wanted by an investigator from the Cheryoyarsky district of the Astrakhan region, who had previously tried to initiate a case against him for defamation.
"These attempts began after I spoke out against the transfer of the Northern Reservoir (also called Krivaya Luka) for lease, and the body that did this, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, had no right to do so," Adakhov pointed out.
According to him, before this, the same investigator initiated a case against the chairman of the "People's Union" branch in the Cheryoyarsky district, Magomed-Rasul Magomedov, under Article 318 of the Criminal Code ("Use of violence against a representative of authority"). The lawyer pointed out that at the time of the incident, "the inspector was off duty." Adakhov believes that the authorities were interested in persecuting Magomedov — to imprison him and ruin his farm. He noted that no lawyer wanted to take on this case, not wishing to oppose representatives of the authorities in the region.
"I won this case without being a lawyer," he noted, adding that as a result, he gained enemies among law enforcement.
According to him, after his detention on April 9, he was taken to the Astrakhan pre-trial detention center "White Swan".
"I spent two months there, and for a month and a half my family did not know what happened to me and where I was. During this time, I was not called for interrogation even once," he noted.
When Adakhov was released, law enforcement, according to him, did not leave him alone. "Two months after my release, representatives of the law enforcement agencies came again, began to threaten: 'we will imprison you,' and detained me again," he noted.
According to Adakhov, after the second detention, the court was presented with protocols according to which he allegedly threatened police officers. However, this time he spent only two days in the pre-trial detention center, as the charges did not seem sufficient to the court for detention.
Currently, a case is being investigated against him under Article 319 of the Criminal Code ("Insulting a representative of authority").
"I would like the investigator who declared me wanted and the officials of the Cheryoyarsky district who allowed the reservoir to pass into private hands to be summoned to court in Stavropol," Adakhov noted.
The result of his stay in the pre-trial detention center without medication was deteriorated health, Adakhov emphasized.
"My hemoglobin level is 35, with a normal level of 140-160, this is water, not blood, I can barely walk and am currently in
the hospital," he concluded.
Adakhov, along with other activists, was addressing conflicts between farm owners and veterinary services. According to their claims, specialists falsified the results of examinations, diagnosed animals with non-existent diseases, and demanded to send healthy livestock for sanitary slaughter at reduced prices, the Telegram channel "Agrarian Council" previously reported.
The activist also criticized the reduction of pastures and the activities of agro-holdings. In addition, he stated his intention to create a political party based on the union, the channel clarifies.
In 2018, an investigation had already initiated a criminal case against Adakhov under the article on extremism due to his critical publications in his blog. The defense then reported violations during the examination and searches.
Adakhov himself links the new persecution to his public activities and conflicts with officials and big business.
