Participants of the procession in Tbilisi demanded a change in the political course.
In Tbilisi, a Saturday march took place under the slogan "Georgia against Ivanishvili." Protesters spoke out against violence and called on law enforcement.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on the 681st day of continuous protests, demonstrators in front of the Georgian parliament opposed police abuses, the sale of land to foreigners, and the pro-Russian political course.
In Tbilisi, the traditional "Saturday march" took place. Protesters gathered near the "Avlabari" metro station and headed towards Rustaveli Avenue.
The Saturday march on the 682nd day of daily protests was held under the slogan "Georgia against Ivanishvili," writes Publika.
According to photos published by the outlet, among the participants of the procession today was the fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili. The participants marched along the central streets to the sound of drums, with flags of Georgia, the EU, Ukraine, and the USA.
Family members and supporters of the convicted prisoner Giorgi Davitadze also joined the protesters. Giorgi Davitadze's sister, Lika Davitadze, addressed the march with a statement calling on the protesters to show support and solidarity with the prisoners, reports "Interpressnews."
"I would like to ask for your support and solidarity with the prisoners, who are victims and oppressed by the system. Please support us and help them. Without your support, they will continue to be tortured in prisons and remain defenseless. We must take measures to protect them. Thank you for your support! Thank you to all the prisoners of conscience, their parents," said Lika Davitadze.
The Prosecutor General's Office has closed the investigation into the possible sexual violence against prisoner Giorgi Davitadze. According to the agency, on December 21, 2025, the prisoner was transferred to a de-escalation room after he insulted staff and threatened to harm himself and others. The prosecutor's office claims that during the search, Davitadze was not subjected to violence, and the staff acted within the law. To check his body, they allegedly used only a superficial pat-down and a metal detector, writes the TV company "Pirveli."
Convicted Giorgi Davitadze stated in court that he was subjected to sexualized violence in the solitary cell of Rustavi prison No. 6. According to him, up to 10 guards were involved in the violence, but none of the staff he named have been held accountable. On October 2, participants of the daily protest spoke out in support of Davitadze.
The Georgian penitentiary service rejected the prisoner's accusations. At the same time, in a video published by the penitentiary service regarding Davitadze's case, it is visible that the guards are wearing latex gloves, reported the Pirveli channel. According to Davitadze, the violence occurred within the view of surveillance cameras, but the staff positioned themselves so that their actions were not fully recorded on video, JAMnews reported.
Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Law enforcement has conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters. During the protests, thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution. "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "Main points on the persecution of protest participants in Georgia".
