The comment about the attack on the tourist in Georgia resulted in a fine.
A resident of Kursk, Ilya, reacted violently on social media to a video of the beating of a Russian-speaking tourist in Telavi. The court deemed his comment as incitement of interethnic hostility and fined him 10,000 rubles.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", Georgy Chigladze is accused in the case of attacking a Russian-speaking tourist in a hotel in Georgia during a wedding; after his arrest, he was released. On August 10, Georgy Chigladze's lawyers, Lasha Kapanadze and Mariam Durglishvili, refused to defend him, stating that the defendant does not follow instructions. Commentators called on Chigladze to apologize to the tourists for the incident at the hotel in Telavi.
On July 18, Georgy Chigladze wrote a letter from the isolation facility, expressing regret that the Russian-speaking tourist was harmed, noting that he did not want such an outcome. The letter was circulated by lawyer Mariam Durglishvili. In it, Chigladze urged others not to succumb to provocations and not to act in a state of anger. "I regret that this woman was harmed, but I had no intention of causing her harm," the publication Interpressnews quoted Chigladze's letter. On July 21, after being released on bail, Chigladze again expressed regret, noted Batumelebi.
In August, 42-year-old resident of Kursk, Ilya R., was watching clips on the social media page "VKontakte" and saw a video about the attack in Georgia on a Russian-speaking girl. Under this video, he left a comment. In it, he used profanity to insult Georgians based on their nationality and expressed the opinion that the consequences of the 2008 war were too lenient for Georgia, writes "Caution, news".
A protocol was drawn up against Ilya for inciting interethnic hostility towards Georgians (Article 20.3.1 of the Administrative Code), and calls for the destruction of Georgia were also found. In court, the man admitted his guilt and expressed remorse — the court took this into account and considered his lack of employment. As a result, Ilya was fined 10,000 rubles, according to the publication.
Georgia considers Abkhazia and South Ossetia to be territories occupied by Russia, after Russia intervened in the armed conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia on August 8, 2008, and then recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The Parliament of Georgia voted to sever diplomatic relations with Russia, as indicated in the "Caucasian Knot" report on the "Five-Day War" of 2008.
