A resident of Nalchik is accused of preparing an attack on believers

FSB employees reported the detention of a woman who planned an attack on a religious institution in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The detained woman is 35 years old, and she is charged with attempted terrorism and treason (part 1 of article 205 and article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). These articles provide for up to 20 years in prison.

According to the security forces' version, the woman planned an armed attack on parishioners at the direction of Ukrainian special services, with whom she established contact, writes citing the RIA Novosti service.

The FSB did not disclose the details of the case. In particular, it is not specified which religious organization was supposed to be the target of the attack. The agency also did not report what preventive measure was chosen for the detainee and how she herself comments on the accusations.

On October 5, it became known that the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria sentenced a resident of the republic to 15 years in a strict regime, finding him guilty of preparing a sabotage and treason. In September, the FSB reported on the disruption of the plans of Ukrainian special services to blow up a gas pipeline in Kabardino-Balkaria: a 40-year-old native of Ukraine with Russian citizenship was arrested, who came to Russia "as part of a humanitarian exchange."

In December 2025, security forces shot a resident of Nalchik, who, according to their claims, was preparing to blow up a section of the gas distribution system. "The man underwent training in one of the camps of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after which he returned to Russia transit through third countries. When attempting to detain the saboteur, he offered armed resistance and was eliminated by return fire," the FSB stated at that time.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that 114 residents of the republic signed an open letter to federal authorities, demanding to check the actions of local security forces. The authors claim that over two years, employees of the republican FSB have fabricated evidence and brought more than a hundred people to justice on charges of intending to join a terrorist organization. The main evidence, according to them, are planted phones with identical correspondence in Telegram.

A representative of the Human Rights Center of Kabardino-Balkaria, Zaur Shokuev, told "Caucasian Knot" that the relatives of those accused in similar cases avoid contacting human rights defenders. "People are afraid to write to us, and they are persuaded not to contact anyone," he explained.
