The court upheld the acquittal of the officers who beat the disabled Manchenko.

The cassation court dismissed the cassation appeal against the acquittal of two former police officers who beat the disabled Evgeny Manchenko in Krasnodar. Evgeny's mother and his representative intend to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court and contact the General Prosecutor's Office.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in December 2025, the Krasnodar Regional Court recognized the officers as not guilty of beating the disabled Evgeny Manchenko for the third time, and the case was returned to the first instance court twice. The prosecutor's office and lawyers stated at that time that they would appeal the decision in the cassation court.

On July 21, 2023, the Krasnodar Regional Court acquitted former patrol officers Vladimir Tatarkov and Vyacheslav Zyabkin in the case of beating Krasnodar resident Evgeny Manchenko. Both officers were granted the right to rehabilitation for "illegal criminal prosecution". On December 7, 2023, the cassation court in Krasnodar overturned the acquittal of the two former police officers and returned the case for reconsideration. On June 14, 2024, the cassation court returned the case of the beating for the third time to the Krasnodar Regional Court. In September 2024, the Krasnodar Regional Court again acquitted the police officers. The text of the second acquittal of the officers in the case of beating the disabled Evgeny Manchenko is almost identical to the first, human rights activists stated. In January 2025, the cassation court in Krasnodar overturned the acquittal of the police officers who beat the disabled Evgeny Manchenko in 2019, and for the fourth time returned the case for new consideration in the regional court. The cancellation of the acquittal of the officers who beat Krasnodar resident Evgeny Manchenko gave hope to the family and human rights activists. After six years, the work of the damaged leg has still not recovered, and Evgeny has become afraid to go out alone.

The Fourth Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction dismissed the cassation appeal and the cassation representation in the case of Evgeny Manchenko and confirmed the acquittal of two police officers Vyacheslav Zyabkin and Vladimir Tatarkov.

Evgeny's mother and his representative plan to appeal the cassation court's decision to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, as well as write to the General Prosecutor's Office, the Team Against Torture reported today.*

In March 2019, Evgeny Manchenko tried to climb over the fence into his yard because he had lost his keys. At that moment, police officers ran up to him, began to pull him off the fence, and hit him with a baton on the leg. When Evgeny fell to the ground, the officers continued to beat him, his mother reported, noting that her 23-year-old son is a disabled person with developmental disabilities. When the parents came out of the house at the noise, the young man was already sitting in the officers' car in handcuffs. After hospitalization, the doctor diagnosed Manchenko with a broken leg. The injuries he sustained were assessed by a forensic expert as serious harm to health. In April 2019, when the investigator opened a criminal case, both patrol officers were suspended from duty. The case was sent to court in June 2020.
