Two people were injured in mine explosions in Azerbaijan.

A shepherd and his father were injured in explosions in the uncleared territory of the Jebrail district. The number of mine victims in the area of the former Karabakh conflict has reached 443.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", security forces, sappers, and local residents are periodically blown up by mines in the area of the former Karabakh conflict. Thus, on September 28, in the uncleared territory of the Shusha district, a car driven by a Baku resident, Bakhtiyar Bayramov, ran over an anti-tank mine. The driver sustained injuries of varying severity.

The villages where residents are relocating have been cleared of mines, but dangerous zones remain outside populated areas. For example, on September 6, a tractor driver was blown up by a mine in the uncleared territory of the Agdam district. The man was hospitalized.

On October 8, in the village of Dagmashanly in the Jebrail district, a local resident, Orkhan Gahramanov, born in 2000, was blown up by an anti-personnel mine while grazing livestock in the uncleared territory, reports APA.

The man was hospitalized in the Fizuli district hospital. According to doctors, he lost part of his arm and part of his leg in the explosion, as well as sustaining a serious injury to his right thigh.

The victim underwent surgery and was placed in the intensive care and resuscitation unit. Doctors assess his condition as serious, the publication states.

The Jebrail district came under the control of Azerbaijan as a result of the 44-day Karabakh war in 2020. The statement that Azerbaijani forces captured the city of Jebrail (Armenian name - Jraghank) was made by President Ilham Aliyev on October 4, 2020.

In the same village, a second mine explosion occurred: the father of the injured, Ashraf Gahramanov, born in 1966, came to the area where his son was injured and also detonated an anti-personnel mine. Ashraf Gahramanov was injured, the agency reports.

Considering these incidents, the number of mine victims since the end of the 44-day war in 2020 has reached 443, reports Haqqin.az, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Azerbaijani authorities, by the end of December 2025, since November 2020, when the 44-day war in Karabakh ended, 415 people have become victims of mines and unexploded ordnance. Of these, 71 died, and another 344 were injured.

Recall that in August 2026, cases of people being blown up by mines increased in the former zone of the Karabakh conflict. According to analysts, this is related in part to the expansion of agricultural and restoration work, the increase in the number of returning residents, and the difficulties of clearing the territories.

In October 2022, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that it would take 30 years to clear the territories in the former zone of the Karabakh conflict. He estimated the cost of this at 25 billion dollars. In May 2024, the European Union, which has allocated 10 million euros to Azerbaijan for mine clearance since 2020, agreed to increase to 14 million euros the financial assistance for mine clearance in the former zone of the Karabakh conflict.

On September 19-20, 2023, Azerbaijan conducted large-scale military operations and took control of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, after which a mass exodus of the Armenian population began. By October 7, 2023, 100,632 displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh had arrived in Armenia, and by September 2024, only 14 Armenians remained in the region. "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "The Beginning and End of the Unrecognized Republic of Artsakh".
