A teenager from Krasny Sulin is accused of justifying terrorism.
A minor resident of the Rostov region faces up to seven years in prison for a comment that law enforcement considered justifying a terrorist organization.
The accused is 17 years old and is charged with justifying terrorism on the internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia). This article provides for a prison sentence of five to seven years.
According to the prosecution's version, in January 2026, the teenager published a publicly accessible text comment in one of the messenger channels. Law enforcement and experts concluded that the text of the comment justifies the activities of a certain organization recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation, the Rostov Investigative Committee reported on its Telegram channel.
During the investigation, the accused admitted guilt, and now his criminal case has been sent to court for substantive consideration, the agency noted. Investigators did not disclose personal details or the occupation of the accused, nor did they name the terrorist organization to which his comment was dedicated.
The message does not specify what preventive measure was chosen for the teenager. The "Caucasian Knot" currently does not have comments from the accused or his lawyer.
Courts in southern Russia regularly sentence local residents to actual prison terms for publications on social networks under the article on justifying terrorism via the internet. It is not possible to establish the actual number of such sentences, as not all cases of justifying terrorism make it into public court registries.
The "Caucasian Knot" reported that in September, a court in St. Petersburg sent lawyer Nurd Shamaev from Chechnya to a pre-trial detention center, seeing justification of terrorism in his comment. Shamaev himself did not admit guilt.
