Relatives of the missing fighters in Karabakh demanded to publish the report on the 2020 war.

The initiative group of relatives of the missing and deceased fighters in the Karabakh wars held a rally in front of the National Assembly of Armenia, demanding the new parliament to publish the report on the 44-day war of 2020. Members of the group sent a letter to the factions and the speaker of the new parliament.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", relatives of Armenian soldiers regularly hold protests demanding to clarify the fate of the missing. On March 8, mothers of servicemen once again demanded to find their sons during a protest near the Armenian government building. They stated that the uncertainty becomes harder to bear with each passing day. Protests demanding the publication of the report by the National Assembly's Investigative Committee on the circumstances of the 44-day war started in the spring of 2026.

By October 2022, 217 people were officially recognized as missing during the 44-day Karabakh war of 2020. According to the Red Cross, about 300 people are listed as missing during the hostilities from 2020 to 2023. Additionally, several dozen families disagreed with the results of the examination that declared their relatives deceased - they insist that their loved ones should be included in the lists of the missing.

The participants of the rally addressed the chairman of the National Assembly and the leaders of the factions with a demand to release the report from the secret documents department to the public, hold public hearings, and publish the document, reports a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

The chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, stated on October 6 that he is "principally not against the publication of the report, but it is necessary to determine which parts relate to secret information and which do not, so I will say definitively after studying the topic."

The coordinator of the initiative group Mikael Margaryan told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" that since March, and throughout the spring and summer, demands to the parliament have not ceased, and on October 6, our demands were directed to the new parliament and the new speaker.

"The report prepared by the Investigative Committee of the National Assembly on the circumstances of the 44-day war was classified last year, which is unacceptable for us, the relatives, and the public. We believe that the previous parliament did not pay due attention to our demand, and the chairman of the NA, Alen Simonyan, imposed a ban on its publication, which he had no right to do. Today, the relatives of the participants in the 44-day war demand that the new parliament hold public hearings and publish the document," Margaryan noted.

He informed that "five letters have been sent to the parliament demanding to hold public hearings and publish the document - to three factions, the speaker of the parliament, and the chairman of the security issues committee."

"The report of the investigative committee, which studied the causes, circumstances, and consequences of the defeat in the 44-day war for two and a half years, was then decided not to be published. If the committee was formed in accordance with the law, then the committee formed by law has no right not to publish its report," stated a member of the initiative group, lawyer Arutyun Bagdasaryan.

He added that "it seems that the authorities have a problem and the goal is to hide all this, and that is why the report is not published."

For Arsen Gukasyan, his brother died in the 44-day war, and his nephew went missing. He constantly participates in rallies and demands the publication of information about the fate of his relatives.

"I want to know under what circumstances my brother died and what happened to my nephew, who has been missing for six years. For me and other relatives, the publication of the report is an opportunity to get answers to the questions we have been waiting for all these years. We want to know as a result of whose and what erroneous actions our loved ones died or went missing. It couldn't have just happened like that?" he told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".
