As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in mid-September, the authorities of Dagestan reported on payments to nearly 89 thousand residents of the republic, who were recognized as victims of the flooding, which is about 33% of the total number of applicants. The total amount of payments reached 3.4 billion rubles. On September 30, residents of a house on Perov Street in Makhachkala, which was severely damaged during the flooding, blocked traffic on Akushinsky Avenue.
Residents of the village of Mamedkala in the Derbent district, who lost their homes as a result of the spring flooding, were handed keys to 52 new houses, reports "Interfax" on October 6.
The acting head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, who participated in the ceremony of handing over the keys, stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin set a "clear task" to restore Mamedkala and compensate local residents for their lost property. "The main task was not just to build new houses, but also to create all the necessary infrastructure, restore the road, and connect all utilities," he added.
Shchukin also reported that the construction of another 10 houses and major repairs of one damaged building are planned.
