Residents of Aksay shared details about the education of children in the emergency school.

The emergency building of school No. 2 in Aksay was used for classes until the end of September; the school itself is in poor condition, and children have to study in three shifts. The promised bus for transporting students to another school is still not available, local residents reported. The administration of the Khasavyurt district stated that the emergency building is closed and will be demolished in the near future.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 5, the administration of the Khasavyurt district stated that the video filmed by parents shows the functioning educational block of school No. 2 in the village of Aksay, while the emergency building has been closed since 2020 and classes have not been held there. On October 3, a resident of Aksay claimed that the emergency building continues to be used for classes. On September 29, another parent complained about the dilapidated condition of the school, the lack of water, and the ineffectiveness of appeals to the authorities. A criminal case of negligence was initiated regarding the improper maintenance of the school.

Not only one of the buildings but the entire school in the village of Aksay is in an emergency state, a resident of the village Ilyas told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot". To prevent the ceilings from collapsing, supports made of pipes have been installed in the premises, he added.

"The whole school is half-destroyed; it needs to be demolished. Parents only want a new school; this one cannot be repaired. It has no gym, no water supply, no basic amenities," said Ilyas.

The emergency building, which, according to the authorities, has been closed since 2020, was actually used for classes until the end of September, he pointed out.

According to Ilyas, he transferred his son to another school, which is overcrowded, and classes there start at 2 PM. "Many parents refused to send their children to another school. One of the reasons is the long distance. We were promised that children would be transported by a special bus, but the issue has not been resolved yet," the man said.

Ilyas was skeptical about the authorities' promise to build a new school for 804 students. "When they start laying the foundation, we will probably believe it then," he noted.

Until September 29, students were attending classes in the emergency building, a resident of Aksay Aminat told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

"As soon as this fact received public attention, they 'closed' it and decided to demolish it. Now children study in three shifts at the school, as there are not enough classrooms for two shifts," she said.

School No. 2 is practically falling apart, and the emergency building operated until a video about it went viral on social media, a resident of Aksay Murat told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

"It closed no more than a week ago when this uproar started; it had been operating until then," he said.

There are no conditions for studying at the school, the villager added. "I'm already tired of collecting money for every little thing, painting desks, fixing something. Children come home from school with torn pants because there are nails sticking out. This is real abuse. Children consistently bring water from home because there is nothing to drink there. Some children return home by 6 PM. I haven't sent my children to this school for six days because I'm worried about their health," the parent said.

Another school is about three kilometers from his home, so children will have to get up early and spend a lot of time on the road, Murat explained. The promised school bus is not available, he added.

"Let them build us a new school, and in the meantime, let the minibuses run and pick up children to another school. I personally plan to send my children there because they have to walk so much. Moreover, there will also be a shortage of places in the other school," the parent believes.

More than 12,000 people live in Aksay, yet there is no football field in the village, Murat pointed out. "Smaller villages have football fields, while we have been fed promises to build a field for years. Our youth is athletic; many people play football. We have to hold our tournaments and training sessions in other villages, some as far as 15 kilometers away," he lamented.

A staff member of the Khasavyurt district administration noted that there are two general education schools in Aksay - No. 1 and No. 2.

"The information that children continue to study in the emergency building of Aksay school No. 2 is not true. The old building, built in 1879, was recognized as emergency according to the conclusion of LLC 'Dagexpertiza K.M.' dated January 31, 2020. The building is closed, classes are not held there, and it will be demolished in the near future," the district administration informed.

Students whose parents expressed a desire have been transferred to school No. 1, which has been completely renovated and opened on September 1, 2026, the official added.

"In the village of Aksay, as part of the state program 'Education Development', the construction of a new school is planned. A land plot of 30,819 square meters has been allocated for it. The project provides for 804 study places. The package of initial permitting documentation has been prepared, and the design assignment has been agreed with the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Dagestan and sent for approval to the Ministry of Education and Science of Dagestan," the administration explained.
